Withdrawn

Dust jacket and library card of Laura Gilpin’s The Hocus-Pocus of the Universe. The flap says it was selected by William Stafford from among 1600 submissions and won the Walt Whitman Award. The date-due card is stamped about a dozen times between 1977 and 1991; the catalogue card below is stamped “Withdrawn from Burlingame Public Library”.
Laura Gilpin, The Hocus-Pocus of the Universe (Doubleday, 1977).

I know how this ends. I’m publishing a poetry book anyway.

(P.S. Read Gilpin. Start with “Seeing a Dog in the Rain”.)
